Seeking an energetic and passionate pediatric dental assistant for Oaks Point Pediatric Dentistry, a new pediatric dental office in the Garden Oaks/Oak Forest neighborhood in Houston, TX. This is a part-time position. Oaks Point Pediatric Dentistry is a beautiful state of the art dental facility preparing to serve this wonderful community at the end of August. Understandably, during this uncertain time in the efforts to contain COVID-19 there may be concerns. However, strict precautions will be enforced at Oaks Point Pediatric Dentistry to keep all staff safe, including a washer and dryer within the facility, protective barriers, and proper PPE. It is also equipped with a lactation room designated for new mothers to privately and comfortably pump for their children. Dental Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and their guardians and get them situated in the appropriate treatment room
- Prepare tables and trays for dentist with necessary instruments and supplies
- Clean and sterilize instruments, and prepare treatment rooms as needed
- Take high quality diagnosable dental radiographs
- Clean patient’s teeth by coronal polishing, use of toothbrushes, flossing, administering fluoride
- Place sealants
- Educate patients and their guardians by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient information confidential
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies
Dental Assistant Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Licensed as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
- Current CPR certification preferred
- Radiology certification preferred
- Previous pediatric dental experience preferred
- Coronal polishing certification preferred
- Sealants certification preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to follow outlined policies and guidelines
- Possess a professional and positive attitude
